The Swedish Psychoanalytic Association (Spaf) invites you to its Summer Course 2026. The course takes place over three Tuesday evenings in August and one Tuesday evening in September, following the same format as the psychoanalyst training programme — that is, teacher-led seminars in a small group setting. The group meets in person in Gothenburg.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is aimed at those interested in gaining a foundational understanding of psychoanalysis as both theory and treatment method. No prior knowledge is required. Some experience of academic reading is an advantage but not a prerequisite. This course is not intended as a self-help course.

CONTENT AND LITERATURE
The course consists of four sub-courses, each comprising two sessions (see schedule below). Before each sub-course seminar, participants read a theoretical text which is then discussed on-site under the guidance of the teacher. A reading list will be provided approximately two months before the course begins. The course coordinator is available to assist with obtaining literature.
