Our Professional Standards

Both Jill and Christopher are trained and accredited psychoanalysts within the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), the world’s leading authority on psychoanalytic training. The IPA, founded by Sigmund Freud, sets rigorous international standards. Analysts undergo years of personal analysis and supervised training to ensure depth, ethical responsibility, and clinical expertise. Unfortunately, the term “psychoanalyst” is not legally protected, meaning anyone can use it, even without proper training. The IPA exists to distinguish those who meet the highest standards of the field. In Sweden, the official body for training is the Swedish Psychoanalytical Society (SPAF), which is affiliated with the IPA
